Meet Our Marketing Manager – Kim Rommens-Plooij

Here at InAxtion, there’s more to recruitment than filling job vacancies. Behind the scenes, Marketing Manager Kim Rommens-Plooij plays a vital role in making sure technical workers across Europe know not only about the jobs InAxtion offers, but also how our agency helps them with the daily reality of living and working in the Netherlands.

From consultant to communications specialist

Kim has been part of the InAxtion family for over 11 years, starting her career as a consultant in the company’s Schiedam office, near Rotterdam. “That’s where I learned everything about the technical side,” explains Kim. “I got to understand what our employees really do on the job and how they work on projects.”

Kim’s degree in communications gave her the skills to step into a new role when the opportunity arose. “I was ready for a change, and I really wanted to put my education into practice,” she says. That chance came when InAxtion decided to build a dedicated marketing team. Kim took the lead, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Building a strategy from the ground up

Before Kim transitioned into the role of Marketing Manager, InAxtion’s approach to marketing was simple: post job vacancies and hope they reach the right people. But Kim knew that to really connect with workers from abroad, a different strategy was needed. “At the time, there wasn’t a detailed marketing plan, so we created a strong foundation, starting with understanding our audience.”

Working with a partner agency – Make Marketing Magic – Kim helped shape InAxtion’s message and identity: a company that specializes in technical employment and truly understands the needs of international workers. “We’ve been doing this for over 25 years,” she explains. “We know how to handle recruitment, and we know the rules. That makes us a specialist in this field.”

Making life easier for workers from abroad

One of Kim’s proudest achievements is the way InAxtion communicates clearly and consistently in English, making it easier for workers from countries such as Poland, Romania, and Portugal to access reliable information. “English is the standard for safety and clarity,” Kim says. “Thankfully, with tools like AI and Google Translate, it’s become easier for people to read everything in their preferred language.”

Blogs and social media posts aren’t just for company promotion, they’re also used by partner agencies abroad to share updates about housing, healthcare, Dutch regulations, and more. “We want to be more than just a company that gives someone a job,” says Kim. “We want people to feel comfortable in the Netherlands. That’s really important to us.”

Connecting people online and in real life

Alongside digital marketing, Kim sees a lot of value from the in-person events hosted by InAxtion such as the annual employee barbecue and Christmas party. “These events help people connect through InAxtion,” she says. “It’s a way to show we care, not just about the job, but about their life here too. We want to be like a family away from home.”

So what does Kim most enjoy most about her work? “It’s when someone tells me they saw an ad or a blog post and decided to take a chance, and now they’re building a life here,” she smiles. “That’s what makes it all worth it.”
