When Robert Lewandowski came to the Netherlands from Poland, he started his career as a pipe fitter. Just one and a half years later, he has already made the step to a new role: Work Preparator at Lengkeek Steel. His story shows how hard work, flexibility, and the right support from InAxtion can open doors.
Growing in his career
Robert began in a hands-on technical role, but his motivation quickly led him to new responsibilities. “I started as a pipe fitter, and now I’m working as a Work Preparator, here inside the office. But not always! Like you see, I’m in overalls, so I’m also working outside,” he says with a smile. This mix of office and workshop keeps his days varied, and Robert enjoys the balance between preparing projects on paper and making sure everything works in practice.
Supported by InAxtion
A key part of Robert’s journey has been the partnership with InAxtion. He describes his experience with the agency as straightforward and reliable: “My contact person is very helpful, and always responds on time.” That kind of clear communication and support makes it easier for employees like Robert to focus on their work and development, knowing that practical matters are taken care of.
Life in the Netherlands
Moving to a new country always brings challenges, but also fun discoveries. Robert has enjoyed learning more about Dutch culture and even Dutch humor. Coming from Poland, where sausages are famous, he laughs about trying new local snacks: “Here I know a new sausage called a frikandel with peanut sauce. It’s called a Jos Brinkie… that’s a joke, of course. Now I understand the joke.” Little experiences like these make the Netherlands feel more like home, alongside steady work and a supportive community.
Advice for other workers
For other InAxtion employees, Robert’s advice is simple: stay motivated and open-minded. His own motto: “werken jongen”, reflects the idea of working hard to achieve success. It’s this positive outlook that has helped him progress quickly in his career.
