Function description

As an Orbital Welder, you are responsible for welding and fitting thin-walled stainless steel pipes using orbital welding equipment. You’ll work with pipes that have wall thicknesses from 1.5 to 2.0 mm and diameters between DN25 and DN80. Your main task is to create high-quality, precise welds according to technical drawings and isometric diagrams. You’ll perform both shop and on-site assembly and welding tasks, always prioritizing quality and safety.

On an average workday, you start by reviewing the work order before independently preparing for your tasks. You set up the orbital welding machine, fit and tack weld the pipes, and carry out the welding work according to plans and drawings. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team, regularly coordinating with colleagues and supervisors. Flexibility is key, as you’ll be working both in the shop and occasionally on external locations (shop and field).

Requirements

  • Proven experience with orbital welding of thin-walled stainless steel (DN25 to DN80)
  • Ability to independently fit and tack weld
  • Holder of a valid VCA Basic Safety Certificate
  • Cherry picker (Mobile Elevating Work Platform – MEWP) certification  (or willing to obtain one)
  • Good English
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and isometric diagrams
