Working in a new country offers exciting opportunities, especially for skilled technical professionals. At InAxtion, supporting employees goes beyond simply placing them in jobs. Through the InAxtion Academy, the company provides practical training, career development opportunities, and preparation for working safely and confidently on projects across the Netherlands.
The academy combines hands-on learning and onboarding support to help electricians and other technical specialists build their careers while meeting the needs of clients.
Training for industrial work and career growth
One of the key goals of the InAxtion Academy is to help technical workers expand their skills and access more opportunities. Many electricians and technicians arrive with strong experience in utility or construction projects. So we also want to give our employees more confidence that they can work across multiple disciplines, which increases their job security.
However, industrial work often requires additional knowledge, such as working with instrumentation systems or specialized electrical components. The academy provides short but focused training sessions to help employees make that transition.
As Sales Manager, Manuela den Brinker, explains, “We have begun with four electrical training courses, and our intention is to further expand into mechanical training. We offer training for industrial electricians, including electrical and instrumentation work. It gives people the opportunity to move from utility jobs into industrial projects where there is strong demand.”
Training sessions typically last one or two days and include practical exercises as well as skill assessments. These sessions help identify areas where workers may benefit from extra instruction. For employees, this means the chance to gain new qualifications at no cost. For clients, it ensures that InAxtion delivers skilled professionals who are prepared for the specific tasks required on site; it’s a win-win situation.
Preparing employees for real projects
Another important part of the academy is preparing workers for upcoming projects. Before starting certain assignments, employees may attend targeted training sessions designed around the specific requirements of a client.
“In some cases we prepare people for a particular project,” says Manuela. “For example, if there is a factory shutdown coming up, we can show them the types of cables or instruments they will be working with.”
Clients are sometimes directly involved in the process with their own training centers but when they trust the InAxtion Academy’s assessment process, the internal client training may no longer be necessary.
“Cooperation with our clients is highly valuable,” Manuela explains. “When they know we have trained someone at the academy, they can be confident they are getting the right people.”
This approach helps ensure that employees arrive on site fully prepared, reducing the chance of misunderstandings or unexpected challenges.
Strong onboarding and safety awareness
The InAxtion Academy also plays a growing role in the onboarding process. While the programme is still developing, the long-term vision is that every new employee will pass through the academy before starting work.
“We want every new person to go through the academy as part of their onboarding,” says Manuela. “It helps us prepare them for the project and the environment they will be working in.”
During training, employees bring their own tools and personal protective equipment so trainers can check that everything meets safety standards. The sessions also introduce workers to the differences between construction and industrial environments, where safety procedures may be stricter.
Training schedules are flexible and can take place during office hours, evenings, or weekends depending on when employees arrive in the Netherlands. In addition to technical training, InAxtion also offers online Dutch language courses to help employees integrate more easily into daily life and the workplace.
Building skills for the future
The InAxtion Academy is still expanding, but its mission is clear. By combining practical training, onboarding support, and career development opportunities, the programme helps employees build long-term careers in the Netherlands. For technical professionals looking to grow their skills and explore new opportunities, the academy provides a strong foundation for success.
