Piotr’s Career Journey: Electrician to Supervisor

Piotr Celebrates 15 Years In The Netherlands

For the past 15 years, Piotr has been building more than electrical systems – he's established a career based on trust, responsibility, and teamwork. Since relocating from Poland, Piotr has steadily progressed from an industrial electrician to a supervisory role. Along the way, InAxtion has supported him in finding long-term opportunities, helping him develop his career while enjoying a fulfilling life in the Netherlands. Here’s his story.

From electrician to supervisor

When Piotr first arrived in the Netherlands from Poland, he began working as an industrial electrician on the same project in Eemshaven for the past 15 years. Through experience and dedication, he was promoted to foreman before becoming a supervisor, taking responsibility for leading teams and delivering on some of the Netherlands' most important energy projects.

Today, he works at the Eemshaven power plant in the north of the Netherlands, where no two days are quite the same. “I started here as an ordinary electrician,” Piotr says. “Later I became the foreman, and then the supervisor. It's been a natural progression. I've had the chance to lead some really interesting projects.”

His work has included electrical installations for a floating gas terminal, battery energy storage systems, and major power infrastructure upgrades. More recently, he has moved to a new company while remaining on the same site. His extensive experience and knowledge of the power plant were recognized as valuable assets.

As a supervisor, Piotr starts work early to prepare tasks for his team before heading out onto the site to oversee the day's activities. Alongside supporting his colleagues, he also manages documentation, reports, and material orders. “The secret is that I always identify with the company and with the project,” he says. “That's probably why people trust me with so much responsibility.”

Building a life in the Netherlands

While Piotr enjoys the technical challenges of his work, life outside work is just as important. “For me, the most important thing is coming home every day to my own home and sleeping in my own bed,” he says with a smile.

Piotr believes InAxtion has made settling into life in the Netherlands much easier and encourages others to think about building a life here, not just finding work. The couple now lives in Groningen, a city Piotr enjoys for its relaxed atmosphere. “It's not too big, there's not too much traffic, and I feel relaxed here,” he says.

Supported every step of the way

Having worked with several employment agencies over the years, Piotr says InAxtion has stood out because of its long-term approach and personal support. He particularly values the regular contact with his consultant and the relationships he has built over the years. “So far, I can honestly say InAxtion has been the best one,” he says. “They look for good workers, and I really feel supported by the team.”

When it comes to advice he would give to electricians and other technical professionals considering a move to the Netherlands, Piotr's career speaks for itself. By working hard, taking responsibility, and continuing to develop new skills, he has built a stable career with opportunities to grow.

15 years and counting

After 15 years in the Netherlands, Piotr continues to embrace new challenges while doing the work he enjoys most. His journey shows how experience, commitment, and the right support can open the door to a rewarding career abroad.
