Several temporary workers in a single bedroom, no privacy, and not enough space; these kinds of situations are terrible. Even before Stichting Normering Flexwonen (the Dutch foundation for flexible housing standards) was founded, we’ve always felt that offering proper habitable Flex accommodation for our flexible workers was self-evident.
Finding well-trained, competent technical staff is difficult. This is a widely known fact. That’s why part of our staff is from abroad. Just imagine: you travel to another country to work there. Everything is new, the language, the culture, and on top of all that, you are moving to a completely new house. Our point is obvious; we want our people to have a decent life. That’s why we opt for proper accommodation where people will be able to feel good. We offer all of the basic necessities, such as plenty of showers, a kitchen that allows for proper cooking, and a place to have some time to yourself after a hard day’s work. After all, people that feel good will make for valuable employees: not just right now, but in the future as well.
“I think you’ll have surmised by now that our expense level is higher than that of some of our competitors. At InAxtion, staff accommodation is a separate business entity, and a non-profit organisation at that. We are not concerned with making a profit when it comes to this matter. We are concerned with taking good care of our people. That’s why we are aligned with Stichting Normering Flexwonen or SNF (the Dutch foundation for flexible housing standards), which is broadly supported by its various initiators*. They provide outside insurance of proper service provision for both the lessor and the lessee, so that there is affordable housing that provides maximum safety, liveability, and privacy. In 2014, SNF started a certification that forces all affiliated companies, like InAxtion, to satisfy all of the requirements outlined above. Of course, we have been doing so for many, many years, even before we were certified. SNF also requires all of its aligned companies to hand over their financials each year, to verify whether the companies are actually being true to their word. That’s what we at InAxtion like to see: clarity in all things, including the quality level of our accommodation.
